Andrew Pisacane ’11 (Interdisciplinary Sculpture BFA), a Baltimore-based artist better known as Gaia, credits MICA not only for shaping his creative process but also for instilling a deeper approach to learning.
“Studying at MICA exposed me to thoughtful theoretical frameworks,” he explains, a foundation that has influenced his extensive and acclaimed work.
His art has been showcased in prominent galleries and commissioned in cities such as Buenos Aires, Seoul, London, and Amsterdam. Yet, Gaia doesn’t forget those who helped him along the way, attributing much of his success to the friendships he forged during his ³ÉÈËÊÓƵ years, which continue to inspire his prolific artistic endeavors.
As he paints, exhibits, and publishes his distinctive work, he returns to MICA and the Baltimore area as an instructor and muralist. One of his upcoming projects includes a mural celebrating Baltimore’s urban dirt-bike culture, honoring the 12 O’Clock Boys.
